The Humans

No race has a larger population and is more widespread throughout the universe than the Humans. While many still live on their origin world, Durania, several large cities have been erected on other worlds over the course of centuries. Mostly organized independently without any ties to Durania, their forms of government range from kingdoms and democracies to dictatorships and even nomadic tribes.   Humans didn’t leave Durania immediately, though; they explored their origin world for a long time until a magical storm ravaged a large portion of farmland, causing a famine unparalleled to this day. Dying by the masses, many Humans saw no other way out of their misery than begging the Dhari for help to leave Durania through the Ether Portals. At first, only few fled in hope of finding a better life on another world, but it didn’t take long until millions followed and caused what today is known as the Exodus of Durania.   Two worlds, in particular, have become important beacons for the Humans; these are Atarga as well as Manadia — the origin world of the Gniwers. Atarga was probably one of the most dangerous worlds to establish a settlement on; rich in resources and as a result highly desirable for the exhausted and desperate human refugees, the world was plagued by native and horrifying creatures called Ashaks. Incredibly intelligent and absolutely deadly, the Ashaks put up quite a fight but were decimated by the overwhelming numbers of Humans. While many Ashaks somehow managed to flee through the Ether Portals, some still roam the darkest and most secluded parts of Atarga. Posing a never-ending threat to the population that today even includes members from other races.   Humans are especially known for their willpower, adaptability, passion, diversity in appearance, and the fact that they are the only known race where some individuals developed magical abilities in the wake of the Long Night. Being the only race with newfound powers, they also make up the large majority of the Order of Power: an order that is split into four schools — Darkness, Light, Matter and Mind. This is accompanied by The Spire: a form of training and command center harboring the High Council. The Spire is the only part of the Order where other races are allowed to join. And in the absence of the Dhari, the Order of Power has, without a doubt, become one of the most important defenses in the fight for the survival of all races…

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

In comparison to the Elder species with an exception to the Rhultak, Humans tend to reproduce at a fairly rapid rate. Their fast growing numbers have been reason for concern for the more secluded races. Certain factions feel Humans are to be viewed and treated as a virus, that can quickly overrun a world if not kept in check.

Ecology and Habitats

Humans have an enhanced adaptation ability, said to be gifted to them by the Gods who created them. With the ideology of 'strength' in numbers , most humans live in villages and large cities spreadout across the worlds.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Humans have a family based society, where the core-family is leading for the strength of any village and city. Individuals finds themselves following the trade of their parents, often resulting in a very clear defined caste system. Losing one's family automatically causes one to fall outside of this system, making it very difficult to get life on track. Due to this, The Organisation has been able to find an unending source of new recruits and is therefor one of the largest and most powerful human organisations.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Originating from Durania, many Humans have found a life offworld due to the Exodus of Durani, an apocalyptic event, catapulting Humans out into the world. Humans are now native to Manadia and Atarga. With the establishment of the Essence Hunters on Limera, quite a few Human generations are now native to Limera as well, showing an increasing resistance to the harsh environment on the Naru Homeworld.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

Though there are now true Human-only organisations, some organisations have more Human members than most. This is due to a large part that Humans are a fairly new race and they tend to grow more rapidly than the other races.   The Organisation - Thieves guild   The Church Of Essences - Dangerous Cult worshipping the Essences   The Order of Power - Magic organisation for those who are able to wield Essence.

Relationship Ideals

Humans are very traditional as they believe power can only be cultivated through family. As such, arranged marriages are very common. Though there are large differences in the approach based on the homeworld of a Human, the family bonds remained, and with them the social fabric and Duranian culture.

Average Technological Level

Humans tend to use technology only to the point of where it resolves large issues, so plumbing and lighting are usually the maximum use of technology found in Human settlements. They do make up for it in magical knowledge though, with Humans having an overwhelming amount of Gifted and other magic users.

History

Originating on Durania, a huge magical storm caused the Exodus of Durania, establishing large Human colonies on Manadia and Atarga. Although it ended many years ago, the Human-Gniwer war on Manadia around the time of Ankrabad's foundation still causes some tension between the two races to this day.
